Atomos enters the audio market with StudioSonic shotgun mic

Atomos expands its ecosystem with the StudioSonic Shotgun Mic, a shotgun microphone designed for filmmakers, journalists, YouTubers and production professionals that is positioned as the “perfect complement” to the Ninja and Shogun monitor recorders, as well as professional cameras and recording devices.

StudioSonic Shotgun Mic features a dual-mode design that offers the flexibility to operate wirelessly via 2.4 GHz or via a direct USB-C digital audio connection with Atomos’ locking USB-C connector. The tool has been designed to suit a wide variety of contexts, such as on-location interviews, handheld camera shoots, field reportage and unscripted dialogue capture.

Its high-quality 48 kHz/24-bit supercardioid design isolates vocals accurately, even in noisy environments. The microphone also incorporates a 75 Hz low-cut filter and 150 Hz high-cut filter to minimize unwanted noise, a high-frequency boost for improved clarity, and a manual gain control for precise adjustments. In addition, its built-in OLED display provides real-time monitoring.

The microphone is supplied with a 2.4 GHz receiver that ensures a latency of less than 20 ms and a working range of up to 100 m with line of sight and up to 20 m in crowded environments. On the other hand, its internal USB-C rechargeable battery is capable of powering the device for about 7-8 hours in wireless mode and up to 50 hours in wired mode. The microphone, with analog and digital outputs, also features a USB-C output for content creators who want to connect the microphone directly to a computer.
