Texture Control is the name of the new software tool for mastering and digital intermediation work. In collaboration with Cinnafilm, ARRI has designed the software to run on dedicated stations with Fiber Channel or Gigabit Ethernet connections to a SAN network, expanding the capabilities of the brokerage suite.

The software provides interactive manipulation of the image texture in DI processes, controlling gain and noise reduction at all times. In this way, image texture, blending, and film grain can be controlled. Texture Control takes full advantage of Cinnafilm's Pixel Strings technology along with the high speed of the GPU.

Texture Control technology was originally developed by Cinnafilmn and Digital Film Central, one of the Vancouver-based post-production companies.

Glenn Perrera, Chief Technology Officer at ARRI commented: "ARRI is excited about the opportunity to bring these powerful interactive DI tools. It gives a new dimension to colorists' tools."

Lance Maurer, CEO and founder of Cinnafilm, for his part, has admitted to being excited as an entrepreneur "to introduce this product after almost six years of very hard work. As an engineer and independent filmmaker, I couldn't dream of a better partner than ARRI scio to bring this post-production technology to the market."
