The catalog to promote Galician documentaries, Docs Galicia'09, is released again at the initiative of the Galician Audiovisual Consortium. A commission formed by Elena Mera Dios, current head of international sales at Plural Entertainment; Diego Más Trelles, producer, director and presenter of television programs such as Documenta2, as well as former president of Docu Madrid; and finally, Jaime Pena, programmer at the Galician Center for Imaxe Arts (CGAI), agreed to select the documentaries The Sen Teito Club, Afranio, Malta Radio y Beat on the outside (muller on the inside), to make up the catalog. In addition to maintaining the design and objectives of the previous catalogs of the Docs Galicia program, in this new edition, the Consortium once again grants aid with a maximum amount of 4,500 euros to the producers of the selected documentaries for the promotion and dissemination of its documentaries in national and international markets and festivals.
The catalog is made up of documentaries on social, ethnographic and historical themes. Apart from the short film Beat on the outside (muller on the inside), the remaining selected works have a duration between 55 and 85 min. This year the call restricted the duration of participating documentaries to a maximum of 90 minutes. to conform to the standards requested by festivals and television channels.
The third edition of the catalog will have a circulation of 600 copies. It contains two DVDs with the works in their original version with subtitles in Spanish, English and French, as well as a press-book about the included documentaries. An individual file is also attached for each documentary that includes a technical file, synopsis and biofilmography of the director in Galician, Spanish, English and French. The purpose of this information is to promote documentaries in international markets and festivals, since the catalog will be disseminated in the most important documentary festivals in Spain as well as internationally (Europe and America with priority). Likewise, and taking into account the cultural aspect of the program, the catalog will be sent to the media and cultural institutions (educational centers, Galician institutions and organizations, film archives and state institutions based in the Spanish State and internationally) in addition to responding to all requests received for dissemination purposes.
