Veo Televisión will broadcast AXN content for pay through the Dahlia TV platform starting in September. Through this alliance, Sony-AXN hopes to reach one million additional subscribers in Spain.

dahlia_sonySony Pictures Entertainment has reached an agreement to distribute AXN content on the Dahlia TV pay platform through Veo Televisión. The alliance, confirmed after the recent authorization of pay DTT, has an initial duration of three years, during which Dahlia TV will market the AXN thematic channel in the pay modality with the aim of obtaining one million additional subscribers. Currently AXN has 2.5 million.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is one of the first companies to market its content as a paid service on Digital Terrestrial Television. As a consequence of this agreement, Veo Televisión will broadcast only AXN content.

Dahlia TV will market an entertainment package, which includes AXN content, for 8 euros per month. Later, new channels and content will be added. The new platform will subsidize the acquisition of decoders through different offers, such as free monthly subscriptions, and will launch a single multichannel card on the market.

The agreement reached between Dahlia TV and Sony Pictures Entertainment includes a commitment by the former to carry out promotional campaigns for the launch of AXN content on Veo and, consequently, represents an important boost for the television industry and the definitive establishment of the new digital pay television model. The advertising campaign will begin in September. AXN closed 2008 as the leader among the “non-premium” paid thematic channels in Spain with a share of 3.4 and almost 30,000 viewers average audience in the total day broadcasting through Digital +, Ono, Euskatel, R, Telecable, Imagenio, Orange TV, Superbanda and Jazztelin TV.

This is the first of a series of agreements between Dahlia TV and existing television operators and content distributors for the purpose of marketing the newly authorized pay DTT.
