Almost half of Spaniards watched the end-of-year bells through TVE's La 1, ending the year with a ten-point advantage over Telecinco, its immediate competitor. Its programming was the most watched on New Year's Eve (23.9%) and New Year's Eve (23.1%).

Cinema without advertising on New Year's

On the first day of the year, viewers opted for cinema without commercial breaks on TVE's La 1. The romantic comedy Shall we dance? starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Jennifer López was seen by 3,757,000 viewers and a 30.6% share, being the leader in its broadcast hour. Next up, Kevin Smith's movie A Jersey Girl It was followed by 3,422,000 viewers, that is, a 26.3% screen share and it was also the leader for the most viewed space in its slot.

La 1 was also the leader in prime time with the broadcast of the animated film Colleagues in the forest which brought together 3,116,000 viewers in front of the television, which represents a share of 17.4%.
