54% of professionals believe that 3D will be a commercial reality this year
More than half of the professional readers of PanoramaAudiovisual.com believe that 3D will be a commercial reality this year, while 19% consider that it will only be when the need to use glasses disappears.
According to the survey Give your opinion Regarding the future of stereoscopy in which PanoramaAudiovisual.com readers have participated in recent weeks, 54% of professionals consider that 3D will be a commercial reality throughout this year. The results of this survey, without statistical value, would thus be in line with the announcements that are being made by several European and North American channels that plan to launch regular broadcasts throughout 2010, as well as with FIFA's intention to produce the main matches of the World Cup in South Africa in three dimensions.
However, 19% of the professionals who participated in the survey consider that 3D will only be viable when the need to use glasses disappears. Approximately the same percentage (18%) believes that stereoscopy will arrive but will be a medium-term objective, while only one in ten respondents see 3D as a fad.
