Avid DS 10.3, now more efficient in finishing

Support for the new RED Rocket acceleration card, ARRIRAW format and AVX2 enables faster completion of file-based projects, meeting customer demands in real-time work environments with tight turnaround times.

Avid has just introduced version 10.3 of Avid DS, a solution that combines advanced effects, compositing and graphics functions with new features designed for real-time finishing and acceleration of the rendering process of the most used file formats.

Avid DS has also optimized its compatibility with RED, 2K and ARRIRAW projects, in addition to supporting the RED Rocket acceleration card, which decodes .R3D files eliminating this process from the CPU, among other features specially designed for film and television programming.

The latest version of Avid DS enables post-production studios and freelancers to more effectively manage the workflow of file-based projects, reducing requirements for capturing and shaping footage. New features include Avid Media Composer's native shaping of .R3D and ARRIRAW files.

Thanks to it, users can immediately recreate the complete timeline information, including effects, titles and color, for real-time playback and faster rendering. Support for the RED Rocket acceleration card and ARRIRAW DS file format allows DS operators and creative teams to use pre-composed effects, avoiding having to work from assumptions to try to maintain the original creative vision.

The end result is the acceleration of project times from offline to online and the availability of real-time functions that allow the implementation of a work process identical to that used to work with standard video or film material.

The new DS version 10.3 is also compatible with AVX2, offering customers a simple method for fully shaping visual effects generated in Media Composer and Avid Symphony editing systems. Customers can take advantage of the complete set of creative effects tools at any stage of the editing process, with a new AVX2 plug-in interface, allowing Boris FX and Sapphire effects to be used from any Avid project offline in Avid DS.
