First it was in professional environments and now Cisco is committed to introducing telepresence in the home environment through the launch of new video products and strategic agreements with media and entertainment companies.

After Cisco brought telepresence to professional environments, it now intends to develop it at home as well. The goal is, according to Cisco's senior vice president of Consumer Business, "that users can enjoy new video experiences on any device, anytime and anywhere. Thanks to the network as a platform, users can easily capture and share the most important moments of their lives, connect with other people and access the content that interests them most."

With this premise, Cisco has reached an agreement with the North American communications company Verizon to develop a telepresence system in the home, developing new video solutions for this purpose. After this experience in the US, which will begin next spring, Cisco's intentions are to start a pilot project in Europe once the summer returns. In this case the chosen partner will be France Telecom.

Cisco's proposal will allow users to communicate with friends and family who have a PC and a website or another telepresence system.
