Apple has unveiled its revolutionary new invention that allows you to browse the web, read and send emails, watch videos and photos, listen to music, read e-books and much more. If countless professional applications for broadcast and AV environments have been developed for the iPhone, we don't even want to imagine the avalanche of ideas that this device that weighs 680 grams will bring us.

Apple has just presented the iPad, its latest invention that allows you to browse the web, read and send emails, watch videos and photos, listen to music, read e-books and much more. Its high-resolution Multi-Touch sensitive screen allows physical user interaction with applications and content. With a thickness of only 13.4 mm and just 680 grams of weight, it is thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook.

The iPad includes a dozen applications designed especially for the iPad, and works with virtually all of the more than 140,000 apps available in the App Store. If countless professional applications for broadcast and AV environments have been developed for the iPhone, we don't even want to imagine the avalanche of ideas that this device that weighs 680 grams will bring us.

Apple has now released a new Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPad, so developers can create new applications designed to take advantage of the iPad's capabilities. The SDK includes a simulator that allows developers to test and tune their iPad applications on a Mac computer, and also allows developers to create Universal Apps that work on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

All applications built into the iPad work in both portrait and landscape modes, automatically and dynamically switching between views when the user rotates the iPad in any direction. The device allows you to watch movies, TV series and YouTube videos, in HD, or turn the pages of an e-book downloaded from Apple's new iBookstore while listening to music.

All this, starting at the end of March, for 499 euros (16GB), 599 dollars (32GB) and 699 dollars (64GB). iPad models with Wi-Fi + 3G will be available in April in the US and select countries; Its recommended price in the US will be $629 for the 16GB model, $729 for the 32GB model and $829 for the 64GB model.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, commented during the presentation that "the iPad creates and defines a completely new product category that will connect users with their applications and content in a closer, more intuitive and fun way, than ever before."

iPad's brilliant 9.7-inch LED-backlit display features IPS technology to deliver razor-sharp, clear, and color-consistent images with an ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle. The high-precision capacitive Multi-Touch display is surprisingly accurate and responsive, whether scrolling through web pages or playing games. The smart software keyboard, debuting on the iPhone, takes advantage of the iPad's larger screen to offer a nearly full-size virtual keyboard. The iPad also connects to the new iPad Keyboard Dock equipped with a full traditional keyboard.

The iPad is based on the A4, Apple's next-generation system-on-a-chip. Designed by Apple, the new A4 chip offers exceptional processor and graphics performance along with a long battery life that extends up to 10 hours. Apple's advanced chemistry and adaptive charging technology enables up to 1,000 charge cycles without a significant decrease in battery capacity over a typical five-year lifespan.

Furthering Apple's goal of designing and creating environmentally responsible products, the iPad's casing is made from highly recyclable aluminum and comes standard with energy-efficient, mercury-free, mercury-free LED-backlit displays made from arsenic-free glass. The iPad contains no brominated flame retardants and is completely PVC-free.
