Faster and more efficient Final Cut environments integrated with K2 and Aurora
The new Grass Valley Connect 2.0 software will allow editors to make raw edits in the Aurora newsroom and quickly send to an FCP system for finishing, without delay and without transcoding.
Grass Valley has added new features to the GV Connect plug-in for Final Cut users that will increase productivity and performance working on K2 servers and shared storage networks. The latest version, 2.0, adds greater integration with the K2/Aurora news systems, through the MOS protocol, improving the connection of scripts with audio and video clips, thus facilitating the digital production of news and gaining speed and efficiency.
Additionally, users of the K2 server and Aurora tapeless production suite who also use Final Cut Pro will have new capabilities to store native .mov files for the timeline in FCP. With the new GV Connect 2.0 software, archiving is closely linked to the workflow by exchanging EDL lists so working on Aurora Edit LD stations is similar to operating over a network as an FCP client sharing your work without any problems. It also allows editors to make raw edits in the Aurora newsroom and quickly send to an FCP system for finishing, without delay and without transcoding. GV Connect 2.0 customers will also now be able to directly export a file from FCP directly to the Aurora Playout playlist for inclusion in the newscast moments before it is broadcast.
To provide the tightest integration for Final Cut Pro users, Grass Valley offers its K2 FCP Connect software that includes the GV Connect-in plugin for Final Cut Pro allowing any Macintosh with FCP to become a K2 SAN iSCSI client. This allows you to edit material stored on the K2 in-place via QuickTime reference files. The application supports DV, IMX, HD, and XDCAM formats.
For iSCSI access, the license is installed on the SAN of the K2 server configured to serve system files. In a redundant K2 SAN, the license is installed on the primary and backup K2s. GV Connect 2.0 will be available from NAB and those Connect users under warranty will be able to upgrade their systems for free.
