The World Cup in South Africa will be the first sporting event in Spain to reach the homes of Digital+ and Canal+ customers through 3D technology. Digital+ owns the rights to the entire World Cup in South Africa: Canal+ Liga will offer the 64 matches that make up the next World Cup, 40 of them exclusively, in high definition.

Canal+ Spain will broadcast the best matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in 3D for the first time. From June 11, which will begin in Johannesburg and until July 11, which ends, Digital+ customers who have an iPlus terminal and a 3D television will be able to enjoy the World Cup with three-dimensional images. Canal+ will offer the best matches, including the final in 3D.

Carlos Martínez, sports director of Canal+, commented that "major sporting events have always meant the arrival of the latest technology in the homes of fans. The 2010 World Cup in South Africa will offer our customers a new experience that will go beyond the screen. Canal+3D will be the best option to enjoy this great clash of national teams as if you were on the field. The emotion of football promises to surprise, once again, on Canal+."

On the other hand, Canal+ has already announced that on April 17 it will record the first concert in 3D. It will be a show starring the singer Enrique Bunbury under the direction of Paco Plaza.
