Canal+ will become the first Spanish channel with regular stereoscopic broadcasts. The new 3D broadcasts will arrive through the Digital+ iPlus decoder. The first Canal+ broadcast in 3D will be a spectacular Bunbury concert that will be recorded exclusively by Canal+ on April 17 and will be conducted by Paco Plaza.

The Spanish pay channel Canal+, after its commitment to high definition, will now take a new step as a pioneer of regular stereoscopic broadcasts in Spain. Canal+ will begin broadcasting some of its content in 3D from the first half of 2010 and will bring this new way of watching television to Digital+ customers. To enjoy Canal+ in 3D, it will be necessary to have the iPlus terminal and a television prepared for the new technology. The main brands will begin to market televisions prepared for 3D technology before the summer.

In the coming months, Canal+ will bring 3D to the general public through the organization of exclusive events in the world of sports and culture. The director of Canal+ Miguel Salvat points out that "3D technology is now an excellent vehicle to deliver the highest quality content with the best technical features to our customers' homes. At Canal+ we are in line with the technological development that has begun to open up the world of cinema and that offers a totally new and much more satisfactory audiovisual consumption experience." Canal+ content in 3D will grow as the implementation of this new technology increases in our country.

For his part, the technical director of Sogecable Adolfo Remacha points out that "Digital+ maintains its commitment to its clients to offer them all the innovations that technology puts within our reach. The emission of three-dimensional images constitutes another commitment to the technological leadership of Digital+."

Bunbury en 3D

The first Canal+ broadcast in 3D will revolve around the latest great musical event launched by Enrique Bunbury. On April 17, the pay channel will record, exclusively and in 3D, a concert by the singer Maño in which the artist first covers the songs from his new album The consequences, already number one in sales, where he reviews his most rock songs, and finally unleashes his most cabaret side. A first-class show, which thanks to 3D will become a true television event, and which will also be directed by Paco Plaza, director of successful films such as REC.
