TVE will broadcast the change of guard at the Royal Palace in the first live broadcast in 4K HDR in Spain

The broadcast will take place on Wednesday, July 5 on the 4K channel being tested in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville and will have the collaboration of Hispasat, Ateme, Loewe, LG, Dolby, Cellnex, Albalá, Abacanto, Grass Valley, Crosspoint, EVS, Moncada y Lorenzo, Canon and Hurí.

Royal Guard relief

Spanish Television takes a new step in its commitment to audiovisual technological innovation and will offer on July 5 the first live broadcast in Spain in 4K and high dynamic range (HDR): the solemn relief of the Royal Guard at the Royal Palace of Madrid.

The broadcast will begin at 12 noon and can be seen in Madrid (channel 32), Barcelona (channel 43) and Seville (channel 36), on the 4K channel in tests, managed by Cellnex, and which was authorized for this purpose by the Secretary of State for the Information Society and Digital Agenda of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda. To be able to see it you need to have a 4K television with HDR mode.

At the forefront of ultra high definition

This broadcast is part of the activities of the RTVE Chair at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, established in January 2015, which has involved the development of a set of experiences in the field of UHD in these two years. In production, it has done so with a wide deployment of 25P, 50P, HDR and Dolby Atmos technologies, in the documentaries about Barcelona, ​​the Prado Museum and La Granja de San Ildefonso, to which is added the 4K HDR documentary about the Reina Sofía.

In broadcasting, RTVE broadcasts in TDT-DVB-T2, from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and carries out satellite broadcasts and test broadcasts on HbbTV from the Red Button of RTVE.es. In addition, RTVE, together with the Teatro Real and Hispasat, broadcast the opera live and via satellite. Parsifal a 4K.

Different RTVE departments (TVE Operations, News Media and 4K Projects of La 2) participate in the July 5 broadcast, and it has had the collaboration of a significant number of companies in the sector, such as Hispasat, Ateme, Loewe, LG, Dolby, Cellnex, Albalá, Abacanto, Grass Valley, Crosspoint, EVS, Moncada y Lorenzo, Canon and Hurí, and also has the collaboration of National Heritage and Royal House.

The solemn relief of the Royal Guard in the Royal Palace is celebrated on the first Wednesday of the month at noon and commemorates the daily relief that took place during the times of Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII. More than 400 people and 100 horses parade, staging the relay as it was done then, with the uniforms of the time.
