The Madrid Film Festival, organized by the Platform of New Directors, for this 2010 edition has organized a tribute to Luciano Berriatúa, with a screening of several of his works, as well as the presentation of a book that includes his activity as an audiovisual author and as a cinematographic researcher, dedicated to the study and restoration of films from the silent period.

Turning the meeting into a “platform festival”, a window for some forms of cinematographic creation and a reference for a producer's style is the priority objective of the Madrid Film Festival organized by the Platform of New Directors for this 2010 edition.

The festival accommodates short films, feature films, video creation and experimentation, thematic cycles, meetings, in a continuous commitment to innovation and creativity in cinematographic language, regardless of the format in which the works are presented.

This year more than 340 films have been entered in a contest that has, among many other activities, three official sections: Official Feature Film Section, Official Short Film Section and Official PNR Partners Section.

One of the novelties of this 2010 edition is the launch of a new section with a focus on continuity: the recognition of a film figure whose career is marked by the initiative and independence of his work, regardless of its commercial impact. At its premiere, it has been called the “Do it yourself” cycle because it will be led by a director: Marta Balletbó Coll.

As on previous occasions, the official headquarters of the Festival will be the Cine Estudio Círculo de Bellas Artes where the Official Sections in competition will be screened. There will also be the Cine Doré – Spanish Film Library, the Sala Berlanga, and the projection room of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain.

In this recently renovated room, the 19th Madrid Film Festival-PNR will program two activities. One of them will be the 'They Passed Here' Cycle, dedicated to PNR members who currently develop their main dedication in the field of feature films, being, today, recognized directors and producers, screening films such as The hours of the day (Jaume Rosales) or Do it for me (Ángel Fernández Santos), among others.

The other activity that will take place in the Sala Berlanga will be the tribute to Luciano Berriatúa, with a screening of several of his works, as well as the presentation of a book that includes his activity as an audiovisual author and as a film researcher, dedicated to the study and restoration of films from the silent period; He is a specialist in Murnau's work.
