The president of FAPAE, Pedro Pérez, estimates that the billing of independent audiovisual producers in 2010 will reach 2.6 billion euros giving direct employment to some 15,000 workers. Pérez has advanced that the total number of films produced has dropped 4.8%, as of September 7, 2010, with respect to the same period of 2009.

The president of the Federation of Producers, Pedro Pérez; the Spanish television director, Santiago González; and the director of the Spanish Television film area, Eva Cebrián.

For the director of TVE, this joint press conference between FAPAE and the Corporation is not a coincidence, but a common, present and future commitment of collaboration between the two. Eva Cebrián, on the other hand, thanked the federation for his work to harmonize relations between producers and public televisions.

In his speech, Pedro Pérez has stated that in this new stage of Spanish television, the public chain maintains its support for Spanish cinema. For the Federation, TVE continues to demonstrate that Spanish films and fiction, well programmed, overcome the fiction of other countries. He has also praised the work done by the hitherto director of the San Sebastián Film Festival, Mikel Olaciregui, and has welcomed the future director José Luis Rebordinos.

FAPAE memory

Pedro Pérez has presented the 2009 FAPAE Annual Report, which includes the activities, institutional, political and communication carried out by the Federation, as well as the updated data on the sector and only publishes FAPAE.

For the analysis of the billing and use of independent audiovisual producers, the Federation has worked with the figures available in the Mercantile Registry for the 2007-2008 years of the companies in the sector. The president of FAPAE has shown that the delay in these figures is due to the fact that in the database of said registry (informs) at the close of the memory, 2009 data is not yet available.

The forecast that the president of FAPAE has made for 2010 is an estimated turnover of 2.6 billion euros and, in direct employment, about 15,000 workers.

By autonomous communities, the billing of audiovisual production in 2009 is still very concentrated. They highlight, well above the others, Madrid (42.9%) and Catalonia (34.8%). They are followed, in this order, Andalusia (7.1%), Valencian Community (5.6%), Galicia (4.4%) and the Basque Country (3.3%). The employment distribution of again in Madrid (with 43.1%) and in Catalonia (with 21.9%) is also very concentrated. As for the bulk of production aids, these are concentrated in the communities of Catalonia, Andalusia, Valencia, Galicia and the Basque Country.

On the other hand, FAPAE's memory collects the compiled aids, which remain similar to those of previous years, exceeding especially significant increases in Valencia (from 4.4 million euros in 2008 to 6 million euros in 2009) or Galicia (from 4.3 million euros in 2008 to 5.6 million euros in 2009), and decreases in Catalonia in the area of production and distribution/exhibition (from 21.2 million euros in 2008 to 17,2 million euros in 2009).

Likewise, the 2009 Annual Report includes the data provided by FAPAE in the press conference of the V Madrid Edition, with respect to the good results that Spanish cinema obtains in the international market, both in 2009 and the forecast for 2010.

Quota similar to 2009

The president of FAPAE stressed that throughout 2009, Spanish cinema reached a quota of 15.89% and that 4 Spanish films went on the market with more than 300 copies (Planet 51, Agora, Spanish Movie and Rec 2).

Regarding Spanish cinema data in 2010, Pedro Pérez has advanced that the total number of films produced has dropped 4.8%, as of September 7, 2010, with respect to the same period of 2009.

Notified shootings, according to data published on the ICAA website, have decreased by 12.1%, as well as the films released, in 20.2%.

The market share at June 30, remains similar to 2009, 9.94% in 2010, compared to 10.68% in 2009.

For President FAPAE, once the regulatory change for film production is drawn up, the new business model changes must be faced.
