Veena Rawat, president of the Communications Research Center of Canada, will focus her speech during the DVB World Forum that will take place in Nice (France) from March 7 to 9 on the challenges that broadcasters face in a world of technological convergence.

Veena Rawat, president of the Communications Research Center of Canada (CRC), will be the main guest this year at the DVB World Forum which will take place at the Hotel Le Méridien in Nice, France from March 7 to 9.

How many times in the last ten years have we heard gurus comment that the concept of broadcasting has become obsolete or that broadband will mean a radical change in the model? To answer these and many other questions, the DVB has organized a conference with Veena Rawat, president of the Communications Research Center of Canada (CRC).

From his position at the CRC, he has been in contact for many years with the two parties that now seem to be in the fray: broadcasters and telecoms. The CRC has more than 400 professionals, including 230 scientists and engineers, who research every day in different technological areas.

Rawat has 34 years of experience, becoming in 2003 the first woman to chair the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC). Rawat has chaired several regional, national and international technical committees as well as numerous working groups to address issues related to the development of standards and regulations. He currently chairs the ITU-R Study Group 4 which examines issues related to the efficient use of spectrum and orbit for all satellite services and their applications, ranging from emergency telecommunications to broadband connectivity. He has also represented Canada in a number of bilateral groups and assists the Canadian government on R&D issues.
