JVC Professional has just launched the new ProHD GY-HM750, a compact shoulder-mounted HD/SD camcorder that offers simultaneous recording to two SDHC cards and an optional ASI module for live ENG broadcasts over microwaves. JVC's native file recording technology allows the recording of files in ready-to-edit formats for Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and most NLE systems compatible with the Sony XDCAM EX (.MP4) file format.

JVC Professional has launched the new GY-HM750 compact shoulder ProHD camcorder. Ideal for ENG, news, sports, documentaries, events, and other recordings, this model offers the industry an extremely fast recording-editing flow, natively recording HD or SD files in ready-to-edit formats on low-cost SDHC cards.

Equipped with the same 3-CCD optical system as the GY-HM790, JVC's flagship ProHD camcorder, the new GY-HM750 provides 1920x1080 images. It records with bit rates of up to 35 Mbps and can record HD in 720p, 1080p, and 1080i, as well as SD in PAL resolution (576i).

Using JVC's exclusive, native file-based workflow, the GY-HM750 includes two slots designed to record to non-proprietary SDHC cards and optionally to the SxS recorder. A new feature created at the request of numerous customers that allows recording simultaneously to both SDHC cards, for an instant backup or copy for the customer.

Ready-to-edit
JVC's native file recording technology allows the recording of files in ready-to-edit formats for Apple Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere (.MOV), and also for most NLE systems that are compatible with the Sony XDCAM EX (.MP4) file format. For those using SD formats, the camcorder can also record standard DV files (.AVI or .MOV).

Based on the modular connectivity format of the GY-HM790, the GY-HM750 includes a 68-pin chassis connector, being a direct connection interface without external cables, with the different optional modules. The KA-AS790 ASI ASI Output Module provides direct camera output to a satellite uplink or microwave transmitter, via a simple BNC, which is ideal for broadcasters who want to transmit live HD video signal. Not only can the camera be connected to the transmitter or uplink with a simple BNC, eliminating external interfaces, but the GY-HM750E automatically switches to low-latency mode (less than 300ms delay) when the module is in use.

Hidden retro

JVC has also improved the Pre Rec (retro cache) function, with continuous recording storing the image in the cache memory, helping to prevent the loss of recording of a shot due to inattention. The GY-HM750 memorizes 20 seconds of video/audio in this cache. Other features included are variable frame recording, image customization, a high-resolution LCOS viewfinder (1.22 million pixels), 4.3" LCD monitor with flip-out, as well as JVC's patented Focus Assist function. The GY-HM750 also includes two XLR audio inputs with phantom power, plus manual audio level controls with level indicator.

In terms of optics, the new GY-HM750 has a Canon 14:1 zoom, although it can use a wide variety of 1/3 "optics with bayonet attachment. JVC offers Canon and Fujinon optics, as well as a wide variety of studio or field accessories that are compatible with the new camera.
