HBO Latin America optimizes its satellite network to adapt it to high definition
Based on the MPEG-4 standard, advanced DVB-S2 8PS modulation, and Morotola coding technology, HBO Latin America is restructuring its satellite network to adapt it to high definition with greater bandwidth optimization.
The Motorola Mobility solution that HBO has chosen will allow signals to be compressed, encrypted, encoded and modulated in a single integrated system.
HBO will use the Motorola SE-5100 encoder to process HD video content and convert it to MPEG-4 format for distribution via satellite to all its affiliates who will receive and process the content in real time using Motorola's new DSR-4460 digital satellite receivers and DSR-6300 integrated multichannel receiver-transcoders.
The HBO network in Latin America is one of the most advanced in the region, covering the progressive demand for high-definition content that is being experienced. "Motorola's commitment to advancing digital distribution will not only allow us to respond to the immediate needs of our network, but also sustain our long-term HD growth momentum. Working closely with Motorola, we have designed an advanced digital distribution system to meet our specific needs and those of our affiliates," commented HBO Latin America Vice President of Operations and Engineering, Emilio Otermin.
