The Swedish Mekaniken installs Pablo PA

Swedish post-production company Mekaniken has updated its Pablo system, incorporating Quantel's Pablo PA. Founded in the mid-1990s, Mekaniken works on a wide range of services including advertising and productions for film and television such as the popular Operación Triunfo.

Mekaniken, one of the main Swedish post-production companies, has just updated its Quantel Pablo to 2K and Stereo3D by incorporating the new Pablo PA software into its workflow.

Henrik Cednert, CTO of Mekaniken, commented that "the digital acquisition has really opened up the film market for us, expanding the cooperation with our sister company Filmlance, one of the largest Swedish independent production companies. This makes it the perfect time to upgrade our workflow at Pablo to 2K digital intermediation by entering more aggressively into the film business. The versatility of Pablo and its complete set of finishing tools, together with its color grading tools makes it a perfect platform to take us further in the film market.”

Regarding stereoscopy, although there is not yet excessive demand in Sweden, Mekaniken wanted to be prepared to take on the work as the market develops. “This time we believe that 3D is here to stay, although perhaps not exactly as we know it today, but focused on use as a tool to enhance storytelling,” Cednert added.

After carrying out numerous tests with the beta version of Pablo PA, once on the market Mekaniken has rushed to adopt it. “Pablo PA is a brilliant complement to our workflow, in fact the entire foundation of our workflow rests on it, freeing up a huge amount of time in Pablo's main suite,” explains Cednert.
