Impossible shots in the Swedish 'Gladiadores' with Polecam FishFace

A Toshiba camera housed in the FishFace underwater housing and with the help of the popular Polecam carbon fiber pole is allowing the production of this TV4 contest to obtain truly impressive images both in and out of the water.

Viewers of the TV4 'Gradiadores' contest in Sweden will not lose sight of the participants thanks to the use of the systems I recommend. The popular show being recorded these days at the Loefbergs Lila in Karlstad features the Polecam experience of Tommie Rekstad, a technician at the Scandinavian services company Pink Elephant, who is achieving some truly spectacular close-ups using a Toshiba HD camera housed in the FishFace aquatic housing and a Polecam rig.

One of the essential elements of this space is a 330 cubic meter swimming pool with a depth of 2.5 meters. The Toshiba camera housed in the FishFace housing and with the help of the pole is allowing the production to obtain truly impressive images in the water without hindering the contestants. This combination, according to Tommie Rekstad, “allows fast action tracking to be carried out with absolute precision, a challenge in a television contest with the participants acting at very short distances in the depths of the pool.”

En la producción se están empleando un total de trece cámaras, siendo necesario siete camiones para transporta toda la infraestructura hasta Kalstad, necesitando seis semanas para su montaje. Sin embargo, el sistema Polecam, por el contrario, se puede transportar en cualquier sitio estando listo para su uso en cuestión de minutos.

El sistema Fishface ofrece movimientos de pan/tilt y es totalmente sumergible hasta cuatro metros unida a la grúa Polecam o de forma libre hasta diez metros. La carcasa, fabricada en fibra de carbono está concebida para que se inunde y drene rápidamente facilitando la movilidad tanto dentro como fuera del agua. Fishface ofrece un movimiento de 360 grados de igual forma que cualquier cabeza estándar seca.

Un prototipo de este sistema de Polecam se empleó ya durante las pruebas de natación en los Juegos Olímpicos de Atenas.
