Argentina will promote a plan for the sale of televisions with integrated ISDB-T

Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will launch in a few days a plan for the promotion of televisions equipped with an integrated ISDB-T tuner.

The Argentine government intends to encourage the purchase of new televisions with aid by promoting sales on the occasion of the celebration of the Copa América Soccer in the country that will take place from July 1 to 24.

Discounts on the final sale of devices with integrated ISDB-T could range between 20%, offering interest-free financing plans for 50 months.

With this action, the Kirchner administration intends to accelerate the deployment of DTT, which was born a little over a year ago with the explicit objective of reaching 75% of the population, today connected to cable, with open television.

By June of this year, 47 antennas had been planned, transmitting around 16 television signals throughout the country and a fleet of around 1.3 million decoders. At the moment only 19 emission centers have been inaugurated.
