CSS Audiovisual Technology, a company specialized in comprehensive equipment solutions and audiovisual technology services for music production and audio post-production environments, has recently signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Spain with Sound Ideas, the prestigious sound effects publishing company.

Without a doubt, over the last 30 years, Sound Ideas has left its mark on professional broadcasting and the film industry. A determination to continually improve industry standards for acquisition sound effects has kept the company at the forefront of audio excellence for more than a quarter of a century. Sound Ideas has a wide and complete catalogue, offering an immense variety of contemporary and classic sound effects. Dedicated to the world of professional audio, Sound Ideas also remains committed to the future needs of sound designers and producers, through the creation of new materials and the adaptation of new technologies.

Brian Nimens, the president and CEO of Sound Ideas, founded the company in Toronto (Canada) in 1978, which initially began its activity as a recording studio. Today, Sound Ideas is the world's leading publishing company in professional sound effects, offering a catalog of more than 240 different collections for Broadcast, post-production and multimedia installations.

The Series 1000 collection, the first sound effects library produced by Sound Ideas, was released on magnetic tape in 1979. In association with the Phillips Corporation in Eindhoven, Netherlands – the birthplace of the compact disc – Sound Ideas published the Series 1000 as the first effects library on CD in 1985. The following year, Sound Ideas released the Series 2000 – a 22-CD set, which was the first sound effects library. completely digital.

A joint project with Lucasfilm led to the 1990 launch of the Lucasfilm Adventure Series collection. This was the first time that the popular sounds from a prestigious and renowned film studio were available for commercial use. This was the starting point that later gave way to the publication of sound libraries by companies such as Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros., Universal Studios, etc.

One of the company's flagship collections, the award-winning Series 6000 “The General”, was released in 1992 as a 40-CD collection – an impressive array of sound effects (that covers all the bases) that covers all areas, and includes 4 CDs of specially designed and produced sound effects by some of the best-known names in the industry. Many other products, and a number of 6000 Extensions Series libraries, have followed “The General” series.

Innovation and commitment to technical excellence has been one of the differentiating factors for Sound Ideas compared to the competition. SuperSearch, the company's proprietary search software, allows the user to locate a particular sound effect or musical fragment, make electronic annotations in the software, and print selected tracks and notes to create a detailed record of the production.

Another of Sound Ideas' products, the Music Mix Library collection, has helped consolidate the company's reputation as one of the best producers of high-quality professional music free of reproduction/broadcast rights. Sound Ideas offers a regularly updated range of music acquisition, through various products such as the popular Elements Café series.

In 2008, Sound Ideas introduced the Immersion 5.1 Surround Sound Collection, created by the renowned mixing team at Point One Studios, offering a collection of over 200 ambient effects tracks. The collection is made up of 14 albums, 7 DVDs and 7 CDs.

With the introduction of the Ultimate SFX collection on hard drive, which includes the complete content of more than 100 different collections - more than 650 audio CDs and almost 130,000 sound effects and production elements -, fully digitized in wav format, integrating the relevant metadata. Users have the choice between Mac or PC platform and three different sample formats: 16 bit/44.1 kHz, 16 bit/48 kHz, or 24 bit/48 kHz. Sound Ideas also offers fully customized hard drives – customers can choose exactly what products, sample rate and computing platform they need and the drive is made specifically to their needs.

In 2010, Sound Ideas acquired the Digiffects Sound Effects Library collection which consists of 184 CDs and more than 24,000 sound effects. With the addition of this collection to the company's product line, Sound Ideas completes a catalog of more than 1,000 CDs.

Recently Sound Ideas has announced the new “General HD” Sound Effects hard drive library containing over 25,000 sounds, all recorded again at 24 bit/96 kHz. The collection includes not only the original 24-bit/96 kHz files, but also copies of the entire collection at 24-bit/48 kHz, 16-bit/48 kHz, and 16-bit/44.1 kHz.
