Canon EOS-1D
Canon has presented the brand's new flagship model: the EOS-1D
Canon has announced the launch of the new EOS-1D X, its next-generation professional digital SLR camera. It is the most advanced camera for capturing spectacular images and videos in true Full HD high resolution and represents a new era of the EOS system, replacing both the EOS-1D Mark IV and the EOS-1Ds Mark III. The new camera, which combines a new 18.1 megapixel full frame sensor, a new redesigned autofocus (AF) system and a new and powerful metering technology, with the new Dual “DIGIC 5+” processors, has been designed to offer unprecedented image quality and ease of use, ensuring that any scene will be captured with greater precision and speed than ever before.

New milestones
The EOS-1D X offers a series of completely improved specifications, thanks to the incorporation of new technologies. A new 18.1 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor offers exceptional flexibility, allowing photographers to capture a much wider range of scenes and subjects in high resolution. A redesigned architecture offers an incredible range of ISO sensitivities from 100 to 51,200, expandable up to 204,800, while Dual “DIGIC 5+” processors offer a 2-stop improvement in noise, making it even easier to capture low-noise images of impressive quality, even in extreme low-light conditions.
The new 61-point wide-area autofocus system provides even more sensitivity, offering greater precision and speed. Additionally, with 41 cross-type points, including five dual cross-type points, the camera's AF system offers unparalleled precision across the frame, while new AF presets have been specifically designed for shooting the most challenging subjects, delivering exceptional reliability in truly challenging shooting situations.
The EOS-1D A 100,000-pixel RGB metering sensor is linked to the AF system and powered by its own dedicated DIGIC 4 processor, enabling face and color detection to ensure correct exposure levels and improved AF tracking, even when photographing the most difficult scenes.
Improve HD video
The EOS-1D Users will be able to record videos in true Full HD (1920 x 1080p) with the full frame sensor, having a full range of manual settings to control exposure, focus and recording speed (fps), while sound levels can be displayed and adjusted on the LCD screen, ensuring complete control of every aspect of recording.
The new camera uses new high-definition video formats to simplify and speed up post-production work. The two new compression formats offered by the EOS-1D Responding to requests from filmmakers and film directors, the EOS-1D
Canon's new full frame sensor ensures that video images captured on the EOS-1D X have less moiré than any other Canon model, resulting in a significant improvement in HD video quality. The new camera features automatic movie file splitting, when a single file exceeds 4GB. The file split function allows continuous recording of up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds across multiple 4GB files, without skipping frames and multiple files can be seamlessly connected in post-production.
The Canon EOS-1D It also includes a wind filter. Sound can be recorded through the internal monaural microphone or through an optional external microphone via the stereo microphone input. A new intra-frame video codec also maintains the highest possible image quality by limiting image data compression, so users can have higher levels of information for subsequent editing jobs.
The EOS Movie function allows EOS-1D Thanks to the large full-frame CMOS sensor, photographers can enjoy greater control over depth of field. Video exposure can be controlled in Manual mode, offering complete control of shutter speeds and apertures. The camera records in Full HD at 1920 x 1080 at rates of 24p (23.976), 25p or 30p (29.97) and records 720p HD or SD video at either 50p or 60p (59.94). SD videos can be recorded in NTSC or PAL. The combination of the Dual “DIGIC 5+” sensor and processors also greatly reduces color fringing and moiré, for professional-quality video recordings.
EOS Movie mode can be activated quickly and easily with the new Live View/Video recording button. Additionally, a video-specific tab has been added to the new menu that allows you to quickly and easily change settings mid-recording.
Improving on previous EOS models, the EOS-1D You can also check and change sound recording levels during recording on the Quick Control screen.
Designed for professionals
The EOS-1D Two multi-controllers and a touch-sensitive control wheel, for use in video mode, make it easy to change settings, while a series of customizable function buttons allow users to configure camera settings to suit their specific needs and tastes, allowing shortcuts to the functions and presets they use most frequently.
A viewfinder with 100% coverage makes it easy to frame every scene, while the smart viewfinder feature instantly adds a reticle when the photographer deems it necessary. A large 8.11cm (3.2") Clear View II LCD display offers a resolution of 1,040,000 pixels, while its anti-reflective structure prevents both light refraction and ghosting when viewing images in bright light situations. A reinforced glass lid prevents impact damage and scratches that frequently occur when working outdoors.
The menu system also features a completely redesigned interface, incorporating Help functions to make operating the camera faster, easier and clearer. Additionally, a new dedicated AF tab allows photographers to access and customize AF presets for the most common shooting situations and subjects, allowing them to focus on capturing the decisive moment properly, without having to constantly change camera settings.
Improved connectivity also ensures photographers can send their images to their agencies or studios faster and more securely. The integrated Gigabit Ethernet port provides a fast and reliable way to transfer images from an event on the go or from the studio, without the need for an adapter.
As part of the EOS System, the EOS-1D This new camera represents the ideal upgrade for existing users of the EOS-1D Mark IV and EOS-1Ds Mark III and, since it is compatible with numerous EOS accessories, it can be easily incorporated into the photography equipment of any EOS-1 series user.
Launched alongside the new EOS-1D Supporting the 802.11n WiFi standard and Bluetooth connectivity for external GPS devices, the WFT-E6 transmitter offers secure transfer of photos and videos to an FTP server, as well as the ability to display content on a compatible display via a DLNA connection.
The EOS-1D X will also be compatible with a new GPS receiver, the GP-E1. The GP-E1 receiver, which allows users to add location information to EXIF data and track geographic details of movement during the photo shoot, is particularly useful for wildlife and nature photographers, as well as those who work outdoors, outside the studio, who may in the future need to know where each image was captured.
