Dolby has revealed how its technology sets the level of quality in every aspect of the audio industry when it comes to offering sound according to the consumer needs requested by its customers and on a wide variety of devices.

For those who like to have the feeling of being in the cinema but with the comfort of their living room, the North American company Dolby, specialized in the development of techniques to improve the quality of audio storage systems, both analog and digital, wanted to demonstrate that its technology is an essential part of high definition (HD) entertainment and the most prominent way to provide and enjoy high quality sound with a wide variety of devices.

Through broadcast, broadband or wireless networks, Dolby's technical expertise and technology enable entertainment to be enjoyed while preserving and maintaining the integrity of the content. Additionally, more people are using portable devices for entertainment, and Dolby is extending its leadership in home entertainment to deliver exceptional HD entertainment on smartphones, tablets and computers.

Dolby Digital Plus

The Dolby Digital Plus audio solution is increasingly used in home entertainment, including its presence in connected televisions and the most popular video on demand services, and is now available in more than 430 million products, including HDTVs, smartphones, tablets, computers, video game consoles and Blu-ray players.

Andreas Spechtler, vice president for EMEA at Dolby, highlighted that "billions of new devices are sold every year, and Dolby is uniquely positioned to provide platforms that ensure users enjoy the best entertainment. The global adoption of Dolby Digital Plus is a sign of the industry's confidence in Dolby's ability to respond to a growing demand for HD content delivered through a wide variety of products."

Spechtler was accompanied by David Blasco, regional director for Southern Europe at Dolby, who heads the office that the company has created in Madrid to control its operations in the geographic area comprised of Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Israel and Cyprus. Blasco has highlighted that “Dolby is constantly working so that the user can experience the quality of cinema spectacle in all applications”, and has assured that Dolby is moving towards surround sound in online services.

The Spanish representative of the North American firm has also recalled that Dolby has been linked to the film industry for 47 years and that its technology is used by broadcasters such as TV3, which has broadcast Champions League and Formula 1 Championship matches in high definition and with Dolby Digital Plus, to offer an excellent 5.1 sound experience to football and racing fans, thus becoming one of the first terrestrial HDTV services in Spain to use the sophisticated audio system.

Likewise, recently, Radio Clásica, from Radio Nacional de España, premiered the first live broadcast in our country using 5.1 digital technology in Dolby Digital Plus sound, a technical milestone in the history of Spanish radio that allows the highest possible sound quality; and RTVE has announced that it plans to soon abandon TVE HD broadcasts during the testing period and offer stable and standardized programming in Dolby Digital Plus format, guaranteeing the highest quality of both audio and video.
