Arantxa Écija will direct the Goya gala
TVE 1 will offer the great festival of Spanish cinema live next Sunday starting at 10:00 p.m. and, as in previous editions, accessible to people with hearing disabilities.
Spanish cinema is prepared for its big party: the Goya Awards, which will be presented during a gala in which humor, music and glamor will invade the stage of the Municipal Congress Palace – Campo de las Unidas in Madrid. Eva Hache is the host of a ceremony that will be attended by almost all the finalists and the best-known faces of our cinema. Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Pedro Almodóvar, Enrique Urbizu, Mateo Gil, Benito Zambrano, Icíar Bollaín, Alberto Iglesias, Jose Coronado, Daniel Brühl, Luis Tosar, Raúl Arévalo, Elena Anaya, Verónica Echegui, Juan Diego, Inma Cuesta, Blanca Suárez, Lluís Homar, Goya Toledo, Pilar López de Ayala, María León, Michelle Jenner, Adrián Lastra and José Mota, among many other candidates, will experience the presentation of these trophies live in their 2012 call.
Directed by Arantxa Écija, and with Eva H as host, the gala will have a musical number choreographed by Blanca Li performed by well-known actors and actresses; humor monologues, including one performed by Santiago Segura; the now traditional parodies of the four finalist films (Blackthorn. Without destiny, The skin I live in, The sleeping voice y There will be no peace for the wicked); performers who will demonstrate their skills beyond acting; the memory of the professionals who have left us; and the journalist Toni Garrido, who will sprinkle everything that happens on the small screen with cinephile data, anecdotes and curiosities, are the ingredients of this cinematographic event that, as always, will leave the door open to surprises.
Only one of the trophies, the Honor one, already has a recipient: Josefina Molina, who will receive the Academy's distinction for her entire professional career and which already had its prologue at the Finalists' Party on January 28.
Created to recognize the best professionals in our cinema, the Goya Awards celebrate their twenty-sixth edition on February 19, a day in which the diversity of Spanish cinematography will be celebrated as evident in the four productions competing for the Goya for Best Film and Best Direction: Mateo Gil's western Blackthorn. Without destiny, with 11 options; the horror film signed by Pedro Almodóvar, The skin I live in, with 16; the historical drama directed by Benito Zambrano, The sleeping voice, with 9; and Enrique Urbizu's thriller There will be no peace for the wicked, con 14.
Celluloid professionals will experience the show that TVE's La 1 will offer live, starting at 10:00 p.m. and, as in previous editions, accessible to people with hearing disabilities. Before the gala, this public television network will put the camera on the red carpet where actors, actresses, directors, producers, screenwriters and the rest of our film professionals will walk wearing national fashion. And, on a night of joy for some and disappointment for others, glamor is important.
