At NAB 2012, Gefen will debut numerous solutions for signal switching and routing, especially designed for broadcast environments.

The three new switchers that The edge Presented at this year's NAB include next-generation features such as Gefen FST (Fast Switching Technology), which ensures automatic switching between sources and solves one of the most common complaints among users when switching between sources using HDMI. HDCP (High Definition Content Protection) collaboration is dynamic, resulting in a high-performance endpoint switcher.

All of these switchers include new capabilities for switching and control, such as IP control through a network interface with Telnet support, 3DTV pass-through management, and built-in EDID (extended display identification data) to ensure signal integrity to the monitor. All switchers can be updated through the RS-232 port or with IP control. All GefenPRO products include 24/7 technical service for demanding broadcast applications.

At NAB, we'll also be looking at the Gefen ToolBox 8x8 HDMI FST matrix, which comes in a slim, wall-mountable housing and includes eight HDMI inputs and eight HDMI outputs. Each source can be switched to one or more monitors at a time with full hotspot active routing. RS-232 connectivity makes automation and access easy.

Meanwhile, the GefenPRO 8x8 Matrix for HDMI w/4 ELR POL offers full endpoint routing between all eight sources and monitors using HDMI. The array provides the flexibility to connect four monitors locally and expand up to four monitors remotely using HDBaseT-based ELR (Extra Long Range) technology up to 330 feet (100 m). A CAT-5 cable is used to reach each remote location. Gefen's POL (power over line) technology sends power to the receiving units over the same cable, eliminating the need to plug power sources into the receivers located next to the remote monitors.

With Gefen's ELR technology, the GefenPRO 8x8 Matrix for HDMI with eight ELR POLs can send the eight monitors that are connected with bi-directional IR extension up to 330 feet (100 m) using one CAT-5 cable per location. ELR technology with Gefen's POL technology provides installation flexibility and eliminates power requirements for the receiving units at all eight locations. Complete connection point switching between all eight sources and monitors is guaranteed. Additional features include internal power supplies and a variety of control options, including IP control, RS232, IR remote, front panel switches and online firmware updates.

Finally, highlight the 32×32 matrix for DVI. It presents modules for eight inputs and eight outputs, with the optional possibility of extending the system to another 8 outputs with the possibility of connecting displays in remote locations using CAT-5.
