Tallyman VP, an interesting virtual panel that TSL proposes at NAB
Tallyman VP eliminates the need to install individual hardware panels each time you add, expand or upgrade a router. It can also interface with any router, vision mixer or multi-viewer from another manufacturer.
Among the novelties that TSL Professional Products will present at NAB 2012 highlights the new Tallyman VP, an interesting virtual panel with touch screen. Designed to simplify control of multiple router inputs/outputs, the intuitive user interface is designed to be more in line with the needs of creative operators, streamlining production workflow.
The Tallyman VP software-based control platform eliminates the need to install individual hardware panels each time you add, expand or upgrade a router. It can also interface with any router, vision mixer or multi-viewer from another manufacturer. This provides “universal” control for operators, who will not need to be aware of origin routes or complicated bits of work that exist behind the buttons. Furthermore, compared to other solutions on the market, which are largely limited to a specific manufacturer, the Tallyman VP is incredibly simple to install for existing Tallyman users.
Ideal for news operations, sporting events and remote stations, the panel also allows users to turn equipment on and off remotely, offering greater security for positions with limited functions. Designed to work in conjunction with TSL's Tallyman tally management system, the Tallyman VP is a logical progression of the Tallyman range, which has become the de facto industry standard in broadcast workflows around the world. The new dashboard provides immediate benefits for existing Tallyman users, and offers a centralized and intuitive platform for broadcasters looking to simplify their broadcast chain workflows.
Tallyman is at the center of any broadcast application, providing a seamless communication path between equipment. Using vision mixer and cross-point router status, tallies are sent to the cameras, and mnemonic information to walls of monitors. Tallyman can configure all hardware components within a system of user preferences through easy assignment of tallies, mnemonic and router routes, etc., for simple “drag and drop” editing operation.
MK2
TSL will also present at NAB its new PAM2 MK2 Multichannel Audio Monitoring unit (PAM2 3G16 MK2) with the option for the latest in Dolby decoding technologies.
The MK2 offers a new set of features critical to precision audio monitoring, including an SDI output connection for exporting display information to an external video monitor, a front-panel USB port for preconfigured save/recall management, and an Ethernet port that provides network connectivity to Web browsers and system management software applications. The new platform builds on the existing features of TSL's award-winning PAM2, including loudness-compliance monitoring and audio delay to adjust video latency, creating a system that helps simplify the complex world of broadcast audio.
As a member of the Dolby OEM Partner Program, TSL has announced that the PAM2 MK2 is one of the first audio monitoring solutions to offer Dolby's CAT1100 module, a new platform for complete decoding and monitoring of Dolby audio formats used throughout the HD broadcast chain (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital and Dolby E). The new module will enable the PAM2 MK2 to perform Dolby E decoding and external speaker monitoring, as well as Dolby Digital Plus with descriptive surround audio and stream mixing, which will evolve up to 7.1 as broadcasters embrace the full cinema experience.
TSL also plans to add a number of new features to the PAM2 MK2 throughout 2012 to address the future of broadcast audio, including Dialogue intelligence Loudness Measurement, simultaneous multichannel and stereo outputs, and selectable error masking. In line with TSL's software update policy, which extends across its entire product range, these future features will be available to early adopters of the PAM2 MK2 when they are released.
Touchmix Pilot Desktop Remote
Finally, it should be noted that TSL will also present its new Touchmix Pilot Desktop Remote system at the NAB. The Touchmix Pilot, which consists of a new Desktop Remote panel with rack-mounted host unit, offers one-touch access to any analog or digital audio source material in mono, stereo or surround, allows adjustment of levels and balance, and provides the ability to mix multiple sources. Designed to help broadcasters empower creative operators with a more flexible and convenient control platform, it is a complete solution for audio lean back monitoring.
Using the Touchmix Pilot, directors, producers, editors and VT operators will have direct access to multiple audio sources, literally at their fingertips. Designed with the latest touch-screen technology, the intuitive user interface allows operators to tap into the audio channel they wish to listen to, mix input sources, and even adjust individual level and balance. Complex snapshot configuration can be loaded or saved using on-board memory locations, or via the on-board USB port.
Developed to work with TSL's innovative AVM-T-MIX (Touchmix) as well as other I/O devices, the system can be easily configured in a matter of minutes due to its simple configurability. A BBC-inspired system design, the Touchmix is unlike any other compact audio monitoring product. It is made up of a pair of 20-channel audio mixers with exclusive signal selection, through an on-board router and a buss monitoring “only” function, similar to that of a large digital audio mixing console. Up to 64 audio inputs can be chosen simultaneously from SDI, AES and analog sources.
