Both the SD and HD playout, the branding, and the graphics of each region are managed by the Vector 3 Multiplay systems independently, but in close integration with the MediaGenix system at TV2 headquarters.

TV2's eight regional television stations in Denmark have just integrated MultiPlya's multichannel solution. Vector 3 for master automation control of your emissions 24 hours a day.

Each TV2 regional television generates the majority of the content that is broadcast, while some content is also available to share with other regions. Individual stations also contribute their own news programs to regional news spaces on the national channel TV2.

This distributed operating model means that during the common bidding process, each station could have made a different decision regarding which system to implement. After an extensive evaluation, the eight TV2 regionals have opted for the Vector 3 proposal.

A key requirement for the broadcast automation platform was tight integration with MediaGenix's core programming network system. While each station has its own independent MultiPlay installation, all systems are connected to the MediaGenix headquarters via a fiber network.

All playlists and media information are exchanged and coordinated through the MediaGenix system and, since each regional television has a completely independent playout, all programming can be moved around the grid to adapt to different schedules.

The MultiPlay system at each regional station is capable of using information supplied by MediaGenix to automatically create dynamically updated program branding and graphics, using predefined templates. In a refinement of its distributed operating method, each MultiPlay system will automate the transfer of the region's necessary assets, thus contributing to shared programming.

Olav Helms, technical director of the project at TV2 MidtVest, has assured that "this is a very efficient, solid and profitable way to meet our objectives on regional channels. Both SD and HD playout, branding, and graphics are handled by Vector 3's Multiplay systems, and the tight integration with our programming and production systems has created an optimized and economical workflow with a high degree of flexibility."

TV2's MultiPlay platform is configured with dual-channel playout modules in each of the eight regions, providing the main output, with full redundancy. Vector Autovia provides control of redundancy operations and Vector MediaManager is responsible for automating content ingest, archiving operations and movement of clips to servers.

The project has contemplated a customized integration with the What'sOn system in an integration with AVIT Systems.

Vector MultiPlay is Vector 3's highest-end modular system for multichannel environments. By combining the flexible benefits of the IT world with the reliability of traditional broadcast, MultiPlay offers a complete and flexible solution, making the most of the infrastructure that the broadcaster previously has.

Glyn Bartlett, sales director at Vector 3, highlights that "the hub/spoke topology is very effective for broadcasters looking for the best way to manage regional versions on a national network. TV2's configuration and working model is quite unique and its installation shows how MultiPlay can be easily adapted to improve workflow in complex distributed broadcast operations."
