KIT Digital will integrate Civolution's automatic content recognition technology, SyncNow, into its Cosmos video management software.

KIT Digital has closed a collaboration agreement with Civolution, a company specialized in solutions for media identification, management and monetization.

Thanks to this agreement, KIT Digital will integrate Civolution's automatic content recognition technology, SyncNow, into its Cosmos video management software, thus facilitating interactivity in second screen environments.

Consumers are increasing their viewing and interaction with video services distributed over the Internet.

The most successful video services leverage connected TVs, smartphones and tablets to increase viewer engagement and interaction. However, most televisions and set-top boxes in use today are not capable of accessing IP video. Therefore, they do not allow interaction with the viewer beyond changing the channel, which limits broadcasters and service providers from launching more ambitious business models.

The combination of KIT Digital and Civolution software solves this problem. KIT Digital's Cosmos management software along with Civolution digital watermarking and fingerprinting technologies enable accurate, real-time synchronization of a streaming video stream with an interactive application on any device whether the video content is being viewed live or on-demand.

Laura Kaatz, General Director of Commercial Operations at KIT Digital, highlighted that “our joint solution opens a new market for media and entertainment companies, to promote greater advertising and subscription income without the need for viewers to invest in new infrastructure.”
