Rather than seeing it as an enemy, some British broadcasters have teamed up with YouTube to offer, under a free service model with advertising, more than 3,000 hours of programming.

Channel 4 en YouTube

Some British broadcasters have adopted the maxim 'if you can't beat your enemy, join them' and, tired of having to bear the very high cost of streaming their productions, they have decided to partner with YouTube to offer nearly 5,000 videos that represent a total of 3,000 hours of programming. The majority of these spaces are full productions (most of them presented in a time-slotted format), originating from BBC Worldwide, Channel 4, or ITN. Some of these broadcasters such as Channel 4 have already announced that they will have all of their content for streaming on YouTube starting next year.

Thanks to these agreements, British viewers will be able to follow productions such as Baywatch, Mr. Bean, Jamie at Home, the World Rally Championship or ITN news programs online.

All these programs will be free to access although in most cases, in agreement with the producer, they will include advertising.
