This agreement is a giant step to improve coordination and efficiency in the management and administration of intellectual property rights on both sides of the Atlantic.

Televisa y EGEDA have expanded their agreement for the management, administration and defense of the collective management intellectual property rights of the Mexican broadcaster throughout the world, with effect from January 1, 2012. Thus, EGEDA will manage these rights and their defense against piracy and fraud.

Televisa is the world's leading producer and distributor of Spanish-language television content. In 2011 it produced around 63,000 hours of original content for free-to-air television. It operates four free-to-air television channels in Mexico and produces and distributes twenty pay television channels (17 owned and 3 licensed) with more than 29 million subscribers. In the US, it distributes its content through Univision for both open TV (with primetime content) and pay TV, extending to 56 countries around the world. It has a satellite television system, as well as cable television throughout the country.

EGEDA thus reinforces and expands its projection abroad, and very specifically towards Latin America, in defense of the rights of audiovisual producers and in the prosecution of piracy. It will also be in charge of identifying Televisa's audiovisual works, with the ISAN code.

This agreement is a giant step to improve coordination and efficiency in the management and administration of intellectual property rights in the audiovisual sector on both sides of the Atlantic.
