Publisuisse integrates Sony Media Backbone as the main SOA system for workflow management
The new infrastructure, which should be operational in early 2013, will securely manage the import, quality control, distribution and broadcast of HD spots across all Publisuisse centers in Geneva, Lugano and Zurich, as well as at the Berne headquarters.
Publisuisse, Switzerland's largest electronic media advertising agency, has chosen Sony to modernize your current network operations with an advanced HD workflow ready to evolve into the future. The solution will be based on the Media Backbone workflow integration and coordination platform and Sony's “Navigator” content management application.
Publisuisse currently operates through a broadcast media management system based on Sony's TX control software. This was launched more than ten years ago and, although operations were scheduled to cease, Sony support teams extended its operation to ensure continuity of service until the upgrade project was completed.
The Publisuisse solution is covered by a Sony maintenance contract that has allowed technical support teams to monitor the health of the system throughout its useful life and has allowed them to confidently face new commitments arising from the contract extension. Given the close relationship between the two companies, Publisuisse approached Sony Professional Solutions Europe to request a draft for a platform upgrade project that would include more flexible workflow automation. The new infrastructure, which should be operational in early 2013, will securely manage the import, quality control, distribution and broadcast of HD spots across all Publisuisse centers in Geneva, Lugano and Zurich, as well as at the Berne headquarters.
Publisuisse's Thomas Zurcher said: "Sony's broadcast media management system has served us well over the years and Sony's support has been excellent throughout. We now want to take the lead in the broadcast industry, which has undergone many changes over the last decade. By replacing and upgrading our file distribution system, we will be able to transition to HD with an integrated workflow automation platform that coordinates the work of all our centres. And not only that, thanks to the use of a SOA architecture based on Sony's Media Backbone system, we will leave the company ready for the next 10 years.”
David Hedley, head of content management at Sony Europe, added that "after working closely with Publisuisse for the last decade, we know better than anyone the importance of their operation and the way it is structured. The Media Backbone Conductor platform is a perfect solution for their needs. With it, we can reshape the Publisuisse solution by integrating new technologies for high definition systems, quality control, transcoding and broadcast. But that's not all. With Media Backbone Conductor at the core of solution, we are confident that publisuisse will be able to continue expanding the use of the system as the company grows, something very difficult with the original software solution.”
