The storm seriously damages the Arganda del Rey teleport
Most of the equipment was back in operation just two hours after the storm occurred.
Overon suffered, during the morning of last Saturday, the consequences of the storm that has affected the entire peninsula. A tornado caused the destruction of several of the antennas located at its Arganda (Madrid) teleport. Thanks to the collaboration of Overon's technical teams, just two hours later, the service was almost completely restored with the establishment of alternative systems. Work to permanently repair the damage continued throughout the weekend.
The damage was so considerable that it was necessary to replace all the reception antennas that allow recovering the signals of the channels that are distributed on permanent carriers on the satellites with which Overon works.
The tornado occurred around 8 a.m. on Saturday, affecting Overon's antenna field in the town of Arganda, as well as Abertis facilities.
The force of the wind destroyed everything in its path, antennas, air conditioning units, fences, streetlights, the metal manholes had been thrown dozens of meters, in a 50-meter corridor. The tornado caused damage to several transmission antennas: an 11 m, a 9.3 m, a 2.4 m rapid from Abertis and a 4.5 meter; as well as multiple 2.4 m receiving antennas. The trajectory of the wind gusts affected only one side of the antenna field, preventing further damage and facilitating its recovery.
