Hispasat and LG sign an agreement to promote Ultra High Definition

Within the framework of this collaboration, Hispasat will broadcast a promotional channel in Ultra HD via satellite and free-to-air and will promote the generation of content in this technology.

The operator Hispasat y LG Spain today presented the agreement reached between the two to promote the development, knowledge and expansion of Ultra HD television. Market trends show that the near future of television in homes and that of cinema content around the world is heading towards broadcasts in 4K quality.

In this agreement, both companies aim to exchange knowledge, share a platform for the development of new products and technologies related to Ultra HD and increase their operational and commercial synergies, as well as disseminate the benefits of LG's Ultra HD televisions as pioneers in this technology, and of satellites as the ideal support for transmitting new content in Ultra HD.

Within the framework of this collaboration, Hispasat will broadcast a promotional channel in Ultra HD via satellite and free-to-air and will promote the generation of content in this technology. Both companies will organize events in order to disseminate their use and knowledge among professionals, journalists and users, in which LG will provide the technical equipment, whose maximum exponent is the largest Ultra HD television on the market, an 84-inch device that stands out for its resolution, dimensions and technology.

Ignacio Sanchis, Business Director of Hispasat, explained that “the satellite is configured as the ideal support for the development of the new Ultra HD technology due to its universal coverage, high capacity and large bandwidth, capable of transmitting a large amount of information in high quality.”

For his part, José María Zamora, Marketing Director of LG Spain, assures that "at LG we are eliminating all possible barriers to offer the best image quality to our consumers" and advocates for "the involvement of all industry agents in the development of a technology that substantially improves the leisure experience at home."

At the presentation event, a demonstration was carried out on an LG Ultra HD television by transmitting content via satellite through Hispasat 1E.
