The creators of '[Rec]' and 'The conjuring' come together in 'Summer Camp'
Sponsored by Jaume Balagueró, the film will mark Alberto Marini's directorial debut.
The creators of [REC] and of The Conjuring join forces to carry forward Summer Camp, a horror project sponsored by Jaume Balagueró with which Alberto Marini will debut in film direction.
Filmax, The Safran Company and Rebelión Terrestre will co-produce together a story that has already been sold to the entire American continent.
Filmax, which is also in charge of international sales and is currently present at the American Film Market, has just closed the distribution agreement with Pantelion Films and it will be this large studio based in Hollywood that will release the film in North and South America.
Filming, in English, will begin on February 3 in Barcelona and will last 6 weeks. At the moment one of the leading actors is confirmed: Diego Boneta, who shared the bill with Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages.
Summer Camp represents Jaume Balagueró's first foray into executive production. Alberto Marini also embarks on directing a feature film for the first time. Together they have worked on practically all of Balagueró's films. In the last one, While You Sleep, as director and screenwriter, respectively.
Jaume Balagueró acknowledges that "I have worked with Alberto Marini for years. I am aware of his talent and I have always encouraged him to get into the driver's seat and take the big step into directing. Summer Camp is also my first project as a producer. This is a new challenge for me and I hope to be able to contribute everything I have learned as a director. My motivation for this film is the same as what I have always sought: to provide the public with quality entertainment."
Julio Fernández, producer and president of Filmax, has stated that "Filmax continues to bet on the most international genre and on the talent of the production company. Alberto Marini, who has been a screenwriter and executive producer of several Filmax productions, makes the leap to direction, and Jaume Balagueró makes the leap to production. That is why Filmax had to be there. We are proud to be able to give them this great opportunity, team up with them and support them in this exciting adventure. In addition, we can count on international partners such as “Lionsgate, The Safran Company and Pantelion only strengthen the project and turn it into a journey that will be exciting for everyone.”
The film has already been sold throughout the American continent where it will be distributed by Pantelion Films. It is the first major Latin studio in Hollywood and the new face of Hispanic entertainment. It is a synergistic partnership between Lionsgate and Grupo Televisa. Pantelion offers viewers a constant source of exciting and original films featuring world-class Latin actors, directors and writers. Founded three years ago, Pantelion's catalog includes Returns are not accepted (Instructions Not Included), the highest-grossing Spanish-language film released in the US; also Love at First Visa (Pulling Strings), my father's house y From Prada To Nada.
