Telefónica and Nagra launch a new generation of OTT services in Latin America

Nagra y Telefónica Digital will launch new next-generation television services powered by Nagra's latest middleware solution, OpenTV 5. This will allow Telefónica to offer its customers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela new hybrid over the top (OTT) services through a unified user experience.

David del Val, Media Services Product Director at Telefónica Digital, has assured that "new generation middleware solutions, such as Nagra Open TV 5, will allow Telefónica to combine our strengths as a pay-TV operator and telecommunications provider to create more powerful services for the end user. The incorporation of broadband connectivity to our cable and satellite services in the context of quadruple play will provide a new level of experience around the distribution of content, flexilinear TV and "Multi-screen capabilities. The flexible nature of OpenTV 5 allows us to create a unique value proposition based on our customer insights and long-term product vision, both at the entry level and high-end market segments."
