This universal platform allows up to 256 audio channels to be transported and processed over a network. Aside from the obvious advantages of carrying hundreds of channels with minimal cabling, the concept of networking opens up enormous possibilities in terms of processing, through the opportunity to include dedicated servers in the networks themselves.

DiGrid SWI
It is a fact that most audio production infrastructures, whether in the studio or live, are increasingly based on multichannel transport protocols over Ethernet cabling; protocols that in some cases allow the simultaneous transmission and management of hundreds of high resolution channels.

DiGiGrid, the platform that allows transport and network processing of up to 256 audio channels, is an alternative to take into account in these environments

DiGiGrid interfaces bring network transport and processing capabilities to virtually any audio production or mixing system. Native DAWs such as Logic, Cubase, Nuendo or Ableton Live; native or HD Pro Tools systems; mixing consoles with MADI bus; Even analog sources can benefit from multi-channel audio transport over Ethernet and powerful network processing.

Aside from the obvious advantages of carrying hundreds of channels with minimal cabling, the concept of networking opens up enormous possibilities in terms of processing, through the opportunity to include dedicated servers in the networks themselves. This is the visionary proposal brought to us by DiGiGrid, which is a brand created by Waves (world leader in the development of DSP technologies for audio processing) and DiGiCo (reputable manufacturer of live mixing systems).

Native DAWs, ProTools and MADI

Those who work with native DAWs only need to connect the computer where the application is running to the DiGiGrid interface using a simple Ethernet cable. For these users, the IOS, IOX, IOC or SWI interfaces are available as primary units, depending on whether only signal transport or transport+processing is required.

For their part, Pro Tools HD users have DiGiGrid DLS or DLI interfaces at their disposal, which not only provide access to a whole world of signal transport and/or processing based on DiGiGrid devices and Waves SoundGrid servers, but also offer Digilink connectivity to work with Pro Tools interfaces (such as HD IO and other devices).

Regarding users of MADI devices, these have the MGB (coaxial MADI to SoundGrid) and MGO (optical MADI to SoundGrid) interfaces, which allow 128 forward channels and another 128 return channels (64 forward channels and 64 return channels at 96Khz). This allows, for example, recording of all input channels of the mixing system to an ASIO DAW, as well as multi-channel playback from an ASIO DAW to the mixing system. Another possibility is the addition of a SoundGrid DSP server and Waves Multirack software, which could send these 128 channels for processing and subsequent return to the mixer.

In other words, any system or mixing console with a digital or optical MADI bus now has software processing possibilities that were unimaginable until recently.
