Vitelsa completes the digitalization project of the Televisión de Galicia delegations

The Galician autonomous community concludes the process of digitalization and technological modernization of its five territorial Centers, applying the latest technological advances to the capture, production and broadcast of its own local content.

Radio and Television Company of Galicia (CRTVG), which broadcasts two 24/7 digital terrestrial channels and two satellite channels aimed at the public in Europe and America, with its own production that exceeds 60% of the total emissions, has just concluded the modernization plan for its five territorial headquarters located in Coruña, Vigo, Lugo and Orense and Madrid.

With the aim of continuing to offer a high level of quality in its own production, TVG decided to undertake the digitalization and technological modernization of these centers, applying the latest technological advances to the capture, production and broadcast of its own local content. For this project the technological proposal of Vitelsa It was selected in a public tender as the most appropriate according to technical, economic and improvement parameters on the requested functional requirements.

Additionally, the project presented a relevant operational challenge, since it required making profound changes to the infrastructure of the Territorial Delegations without interfering with their daily operations. Local News News is produced and broadcast daily from each of these Centers, in addition to providing proximity content to the Headquarters in Santiago de Compostela for integration into the different programs of the chain (News, cultural programs, etc.)

The scope of the project carried out by Vitelsa covers the design, engineering, supply and commissioning for the total digitalization of the audio, video and data infrastructure of the Territorial Centers, including the assembly of new technical furniture in each of the territorial Implementation Controls.

In each of the four territorial centers of Galicia, new Audiovisual Sets have been implemented, integrating programmable HD robotic cameras that improve the technical quality of the content produced and optimize the resources assigned to its production. These sets have made it possible to start local broadcasts directly from the territorial delegations, generating greater immediacy and proximity in the production and communication of local content.

Digital editing and post-production

Additionally, an advanced digital editing and post-production solution has been implemented in each center, which has been fully integrated by Vitelsa with the new digital ingestion and archiving system installed. In this way, a continuous flow of digital video is maintained from the ingestion and editing system to its digital archive and transfer via IP data network to the chain's Headquarters in Santiago and between territorial headquarters. The system is capable of transparently managing the multiple digital formats used, from the capture and ingestion stage to the editing and final shaping for broadcasting the content on each of the network's channels.

Finally, production controls have also been renewed, installing new HD digital video and high-quality audio mixing consoles with the capacity for the native generation of IP video streaming, with applications in the online dissemination of content. Additionally, the audio/video equipment of the Locutories has also been renewed, incorporating a software solution for the local presentation of the generated content.

This project constitutes a new achievement for the Vitelsa group in its already extensive experience in the design, equipment and comprehensive operation of audiovisual production and dissemination centers, combining in its projects advanced audiovisual and ICT technology proposals with a high capacity for project execution, great specialization and a high level of service and response capacity.
