Panasonic has unveiled what will be the successor to its popular AG-AC90 camcorder. Building on the high image quality of the original model, it incorporates enhanced networking capabilities as well as a range of useful professional features.

The 12x optical zoom starts from a wide angle of 29.8 mm (equivalent to 35 mm) and reaches 383.7 mm. Additionally, the camera includes high-speed 3MOS BI (back-illuminated sensor) and F1.5 image sensors that provide Full HD resolution.

Panasonic AG-AC90 Nela Pertl, European Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic, highlighted that "the new functions allow us to offer the field of view, image quality and file formats necessary to respond to today's demanding requirements imposed by video production. The triple manual triple ring (focus, zoom and iris) offers versatility and image control and the incoming XLR audio connections and remote terminals provide the ability to expand the system, which is essential in professional applications."

The AVCHD recorder supports both PS mode for Full-HD progressive imaging and PH mode for professional use. It also offers PM mode for sporting events and CS mode for network broadcasts directly from the AG-AC90A.

It also allows the use of an Eye-Fi card to transmit data to a computer or upload to the cloud via a mobile router, significantly reducing production workflow.

The camera includes several useful new features, such as slot-to-slot card copying capability, freeze frame, date and time overlay, variable white balance, and multiple marker displays that improve usability and expand the camera's potential applications.

Existing AG-AC90 users will be able to update their devices using the firmware available on the AG-AC90 website. Panasonic.
