BCSistemas en AOTEC 2014

The integrator BCSistemas has far exceeded its expectations in the eighth edition of the AOTEC 2014 fair, consolidating its role in this market in the last 14 years, as a key player in the introduction of new technologies, from DOCSIS to GPON. These solutions support the current reality of a cable operator, much more linked to the concept of the Internet than to television itself.

José Antonio Illarregui, general director of BCSistemas, recognizes that "for us it has always been important to learn from experience. For this reason, I would like to remember that the current situation is almost identical to that experienced by these operators in 2002 when the dominant operator opted for the massive introduction of ADSL and its IPTV. The cable operators who at that time ventured to become Internet access operators before the arrival of ADSL to their locations, managed to shield themselves and in fact it is easy "Today its networks maintain market shares that exceed 80%, providing quadruple play services to their subscribers."

At this time, the technology for constructing FTTH networks is in full maturity and the fact that the dominant operator is focused on a global migration plan of its entire plant from copper to fiber constitutes one of the greatest facilitators of this technology. “That is why, as has happened before, the important thing is that heat operators undertake the migration of their HFC networks to FTTH,” adds Illarregui.

According to the director of BCSistemas, "pre-connected fiber solutions make it possible to build networks for decades, with zero incidents and maintenance, being prepared to withstand all the technological evolution that we are capable of imagining. The only difference on this occasion is the speed. The advantage of anticipation will continue to be definitive, but the time to achieve it is much shorter given the cruising speed reached by the first Spanish operator."

At AOTEC 2014, BCSistemas has shown its end-to-end solution, relying on equipment from Calix, a leading manufacturer of GPON access technology, and IPG Photonics, a world leader in high-power fiber lasers. With these two manufacturers it has completed its global solution for the world of FTTH/GPON, long developed based on Corning's pre-connectorized solutions, whose patents support almost 100% of these networks worldwide.
