Samsung allies with Telefónica to include on its smart TV televisions, the Movistar TV service

Subscribers of this platform will be able to access Movistar TV services on their Samsung Smart TV televisions without having to attach a receiver or decoder on their devices.

Samsung has established strategic alliances with the main providers of telecommunications services on the planet, with the aim of increasing the portfolio of services included in the Smart TV ecosystem. Following this strategy, Samsung has reached an agreement with Telefónica that will allow Samsung television users to use the Movistar TV service through its Smart TVS.

Uitack Kim, president of Samsung Spain, points out that “we try to continually strengthen the competitiveness of our contents, through collaboration agreements with the most important telecommunications suppliers in the world. The agreement with Telefónica accelerates the development of an ecosystem for smart TV and helps us offer quality content to our clients”.

For his part, Luis Velo, director of Movistar TV of Telefónica Spain, acknowledges that “we are very satisfied to establish this strategic alliance with Samsung, a leading televisions company. It is a perfect union, since it represents a new business model that allows our telecommunications system to go beyond the traditional model. We are very happy to offer our customers a more easy and enriching way to enjoy the Movistar TV service”.
