Telefónica deploys the Nagra security platform to protect its Movistar IPTV service worldwide

The Nagra Security Services Platform (SSP) and Nagra Connect client provide a single security solution to protect next-generation set-top boxes, even in 4K.

Telefónica has deployed the Nagra Security Services Platform (SSP), which manages the Nagra Connect client to secure its Movistar IPTV service and 4K ultra high definition (Ultra HD) content in several countries where the operator has deployed the most recent set top boxes. The announcement marks the first deployment of Nagra SSP and Nagra Connect with a telecommunications provider in an IPTV environment.

The new security platform provides Telefónica with a single 4K-ready content protection system capable of protecting multiple types of devices, from existing set-top boxes to next-generation set-top boxes, as well as multiple use cases as required by the operator in relation to live television. It will also benefit content owners, guaranteeing them the highest level of security for premium and enhanced content, such as 4K, and consumers, allowing access to new IPTV services in the operator's most recent markets, as well as high-quality 4K content using a new generation of decoders.

La plataforma Nagra Security Services Platform (SSP) va más allá de la simple gestión de CAS y DRM para ofrecer a los proveedores de servicios un control completo de la protección del valor del contenido en todas sus redes, dispositivos y casos de uso, y puede desplegarse en las instalaciones de un operador o en la nube, en un modelo de software como servicio (SaaS).

Destacar, por último, que Nagra SSP y su gama de soluciones de seguridad son totalmente compatibles con el perfil ECP (Enhanced Content Protection) de Movielabs, aprobado por Hollywood para contenido 4K Ultra HD.
