The new anti-piracy security offering for the content delivery network (CDN) of Broadpeak, which will be presented in IBC 2025 (September 12 – 15, Amsterdam), offers video service providers an enhanced alternative to generic CDN security features or less sophisticated home-built systems.

The anti-piracy solution Broadpeak seeks to offer to streaming companies Counteract the loss of billions of dollars in revenue with comprehensive, multi-layered protection. It does this by combining the token validation, the Scalable DDoS protection and a anti-piracy system with intelligence at system level to protect large numbers of streams during major live events.

Broadpeak's customized solution offers multi-level protection and anti-piracy measures at both the system and video levels, blocking threats such as Credential sharing, scraping, unauthorized access and token abuse before they affect operations. According to the company, this series of functions contrasts with general-purpose CDN services, which “often” lack visibility into suspicious behavior typical of video streaming, or with internal systems, which only act at a local level and do not offer a global view of the system. Integrated into the Broadpeak CDN, natively designed to offer streaming events with large audiences, the service adapts seamlessly during traffic peaks, addressing critical use cases in sports and live entertainment.

Broadpeak security CDNBroadpeak's anti-piracy solution is available as additional service within your CDN, whether implemented at the customer's premises or through the offer CDNaaS from Broadpeak, and can be flexibly delivered as a managed service, with full 24/7 support from its global team of video specialists. The system is integrated into the client security feature set, ranging from web protection and digital rights management to security information and event management (SIEM) systems.

Customers can expand their anti-piracy toolset by leveraging Broadpeak's content protection solutions with other partners, including a joint solution created with Nagravision that detects, identifies and strategically blocks pirated broadcasts in real time to combat sports piracy. Jacques Le Mancq, executive director of Broadpeak, emphasizes that the company is in a “privileged position to offer streaming-specific security solutions that protect high-value content, on a large scale and in real time,” thus shaping a tool that “solves lost revenue with features designed exclusively for streaming.”
