Avid made a big splash this Sunday at NAB 2015 by surprise announcing the purchase of the Israeli company Orad Hi-Tec. Specializing in real-time 3D graphics solutions, video servers, and associated workflow management, Orad has more than 600 customers worldwide who rely on its technology to produce graphics, live events and sports broadcasts.

Louis Hernández, president and CEO of Avid, has recognized that "with the imminent acquisition of Orad, we are taking another step forward to help the industry solve its fragmentation challenges, while providing it with a more efficient and complete experience on the MediaCentral Platform. Orad's state-of-the-art content creation and management solutions further complement our existing product suites on the platform, to offer you more options and flexibility in the Avid workflow."

Thanks to this operation, Avid adds to its portfolio a powerful graphics suite, and several solutions for the production of live events, news, radio and sports broadcasts, in addition to virtual studios, slow motion replay servers, virtual advertising and cloud-based channel-in-a-box live production.
