NEC's new laser projector offers a compact, silent design and low operating cost.

NEC NC1201L

NEC will be showing its new laser projector for digital cinema from April 20 to 23 at CinemaCon 2015 in Las Vegas, which is part of the second generation of compact laser projectors with a low cost of ownership.

The NC1201L one-box solution, the latest addition to NEC's range of laser projectors, is designed for use in cinemas without a booth and with a screen up to 12 meters wide thanks to its compact and silent design, its flexibility and the Integrated Media Server (IMS).

Low total cost of ownership, flexibility and efficiency are key factors for cinemas, where time and space is at a premium. The NC1201L features NEC's unique sealing technology: a sealed optical engine and laser with cooling circuit, which reduces maintenance by minimizing dust levels in the optical block, the core of the projector, ensuring consistent image quality and brightness.

Its performance is also improved thanks to the use of Solid State Light Source (SSL), which eliminates the need to replace the lamp, eliminates filter change costs as it only uses metal filters and reduces power consumption to 1.3kW. Each of these features represents great savings in the long term.

The one-stop solution exists thanks to the new generation of Integrated Media Server that is already included natively. The NP90MS02 is a high-performance cinema server with 2TB of network capacity, high speed movie uploads via USB 3.0 or Gigabit Ethernet, and support for playing movies directly from Network Attached Storage (NAS). The laser has an average life of up to 20,000 hours, ensuring cinema operators that it will be a long-term investment. It also offers flexibility as the projector can be easily transported and installed on either the ceiling or the floor.

Like the NC1100L model, launched last year, the NC1201L offers great brightness uniformity, the best image quality and a wide range of brightness adjustment options (30-100%) to offer the best possible viewing experience in both 2D and 3D movies.
