Fox Sport will use two drones for the first time in the production of the USA Tennis Open

One of the drones will be equipped with a Blackmagic Design 4K production camera while the other will house a Panasonic DMC-GH4

Fox Sports will deploy two drones in coverage of the United States Tennis Open to be held from June 15 to 21 at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place (Washington).

To do this, it has hired the services of Helivideo, a company based in Austin, Texas, approved by the FAA to operate unmanned aerial devices for film and television production.

This will be the first time that Fox Sport uses drones in a live sports broadcast. One of the drones will be equipped with a production camera Blackmagic Design 4K while the other will host a Panasonic DMC-GH4. IMT's Microlite will be used as a link, which will send MPEG-4 HD Cen signals over COFDM modulation. This modulation will ensure the robustness of the signal even if the drones are in continuous movement at long range since the devices will fly over the main holes at a height of between 150 to 400 meters high.
