Vodafone has acquired from Telefónica the broadcasting rights of the Spanish BBVA League and the Copa del Rey for the next 2015-2016 season.

Following the guidelines imposed by the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) to Telefónica after the acquisition of Digital+ (DTS), the company chaired by César Alierta has been forced to open its portfolio of sports rights and premium channels.

Telefónica reached an agreement with the Professional Football League to market the audiovisual rights of paid football in the Spanish market during the 2015-2016 season for 600 million euros.

Customers with Vodafone TV will have access to ten La Liga BBVA matches per day, including the “match of the day”, all matches involving FC Barcelona and Real Madrid and the two Clásicos. In addition, they will also be able to follow the Copa del Rey.

In addition, thanks to the intelligent recording system of the STBs compatible with Ono fiber, Vodafone TV subscribers will be able to record up to three channels at a time so as not to miss any matches.
