The Latin Beat Festival, the main Spanish-speaking film event in Japan, was held between October 8 and 12 in the Japanese capital with a program that included 17 Spanish and Latin American productions.

Latin BeatFour TVE productions have received awards at the Latin Beat Festival in Tokyo: best film for Closed rooms, a period miniseries co-produced by TVE, TV-3 and Diagonal TV, adaptation of the novel of the same name by Care Santos; best director and actor for Álex de la Iglesia and Raphael for my big night; and best actress for Yordanka Ariosa for The king of Havana, directed by Agustí Villaronga, also with the participation of TVE.

The Latin Beat Festival, the main Spanish-speaking film event in Japan, was held between October 8 and 12 in the Japanese capital with a program that included 17 Spanish and Latin American productions. This traveling festival was created twelve years ago to serve as a window to the latest developments in the Latin film industry in the Asian country.

Closed rooms is a melodrama directed by Lluis María Güell and set in two eras, the present day and the first decades of the 20th century. Adriana Ugarte and Álex García lead the cast of this co-production that tells the history and secrets of the Lax, a powerful bourgeois family in Barcelona at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
