Samsung bets on the transformable television
The television could evolve towards a customizable and modular design concept, as anticipated by Samsung at CES 2016.
Samsung has opted at CES 2016 for modular screen technology, which allows multiple screens of various shapes and sizes to be put together to create a completely customizable television based on the consumer's lifestyle and the content they want to see.
Hyun Suk Kim, president of the Visual Display division of Samsung Electronics, emphasizes that "we believe that the possibilities for innovation in televisions are truly limitless and, in the coming years, consumers will experience greater possibilities of choice and control, as the current barriers around the size, shape and versatility of the screen are overcome. I invite attendees to visit the Samsung booth at CES and witness firsthand the future of the television."
Ultra High Definition in 170″
Entre otras novedades, Samsung ha presentado en CES 2016 el televisor SUHD más grande del mundo, una pantalla de 170” que utiliza también la tecnología de pantalla modular.
As proof of the capabilities of this technology, the transformable television can change its shape based on the content it is displaying on the screen. Whether users are enjoying a big game or watching an action movie or the news, the transformable television can maintain different ratios to better adjust to the content on the screen. You can also jump from a 16:9 screen ratio to a 21:9 screen by simply dividing the screen into two parts and repositioning it on the sides when you want to watch a full screen video like a movie.
