NASA expands its facility with Dalet at the Johnson Space Center in Houston

With the use of Dalet Xtend for Adobe Premiere Pro and Dalet Brio, the space agency will facilitate the production and broadcast of daily and weekly programs on its NASA TV channel.

The American space agency NASA has expanded its installation of The valley, located at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Texas.

The expansion includes the addition of a Dalet Brio and Dalet Xtend video server, with seamless integration with non-linear editors Adobe Premiere Pro .

These new tools integrate with the existing Dalet installation implemented in 2013 and intended to automate the ingestion and archiving of the space station's dozen cameras, which send their signals in high definition 24 hours a day.

Using Dalet The expansion also supports live broadcasts of events held at JSC by NASA TV.

Julien Decaix, general manager for the Americas at Dalet, highlights that "there is a huge amount of footage recorded from the space station and at JSC itself. To efficiently store the content, we leverage the Dalet API to integrate NASA's database with the Dalet Media Asset Management (MAM). This allows NASA to index the footage and input metadata, which is key when searching for specific content, such as an astronaut's commentary from the space station or key clips from a press conference held at the JSC.”

Las nuevas herramientas permiten al personal no destinado a producción, la exploración y recuperación del contenido de los archivos sin la ayuda de editor no lineal mientras Dalet Brio y Dalet Xtend facilitarán la edición de contenido y distribución de programas con metadatos completos y un seguimiento integral desde la ingesta hasta la emisión. El diseño mantiene la integridad y la seguridad de todo el contenido”, añade Decaix.

Las herramientas de búsqueda y recuperación de archivos de Dalet permiten el acceso del personal autorizado a todos los contenidos, mientras que Dalet Xtend para Adobe Premiere Pro se conecta directamente a los editores de la base de datos central para la creación programas. Una vez acabados se disponen en el módulo de gestión de Dalet y se distribuyen a través de Dalet Brio al canal de televisión de la NASA, que transmite todos los días hábiles a partir del estudio de control de la NASA en el Johnson Space Center ubicado en Houston (Texas).
